History

Eclettico (Italian for "eclectic") though officially founded in 2010, has existed in some version through various members since 2005. Since then, Eclettico has grown into two distinct facets: Eclettico, a not-for-profit large ensemble whose focus is education, outreach, and fundraising and The Eclettico String Quartet, a satellite group who plays for weddings, cocktail hours, special events, and at bars and restaurants. Eclettico enjoys performing at other venues such as local farmers markets, nursing homes, art festivals, gallery openings, conventions and more. During the holiday season, Eclettico can be heard at the Westwood Mall in Marquette, MI and has put on multiple fundraiser recitals for strings programs in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Eclettico, mostly comprised of members of the Marquette Symphony Orchestra, Northern Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber ensembles, maintains strong connections with the public school string programs in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

In December of 2011, Eclettico took another big step in defining eclecticism and performed on stage at the Upfront and Company on the Doug Garrison Show as well as alongside local folk, rock, and punk bands in the same venue for a Play for Change benefit concert. During the summer of 2012 Eclettico performed a 90-minute rock and roll set with Michigan drummer Cody Scanlon on stage at the International Food Festival in Marquette, MI. Eclettico also has performed at the Besse Center in Escanaba, Michigan in September of 2012 for the Marquette Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music Series.

Most recently, the Eclettico String Quartet has debuted in Chicago, performing at The Beauty Bar’s Salonathon in February of 2013 with guest vocalist, Emily Glick.

The Eclettico String Quartet performs a wide variety of music, including but not limited to Bach, The Beatles, Cole Porter, and Lady Gaga.

The Eclettico String Quartet is a popular choice for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours, as our music is varied and accessible to all ears and generations. We pride ourselves on being able to accommodate the most diverse musical tastes, and being the best fit for any venue. As well as weddings, we also enjoy performing at bars, restaurants, and special events. We are drawn to venues that feature a diverse array of performing artists. We look forward to continuing our collaborations with drum set and various vocalists
